I feel it's still curious as to why the Integration Components are recommended for a version of Windows Server , touted as having no Hyper-V technology at all.
With Automatic Updates enabled a Windows Server version without Hyper-V would download and install this update whereas the administrator would expect his or her environment to be clean of Hyper-V technology for whatever reason. Welcome, guest! The things that are better left unspoken. But I am not sure about this. Can anyone from Microsoft please give a statement on this? Please read the following interesting link for more information. Friday, June 19, AM. I doubt that you would see any measuarble difference. Sunday, June 21, AM. Why should Microsoft make a seperate edition, only because of license costs? I must agree, I also do not think it would make a big difference. But I like to know. Because when you are going to deploy a lot of virtual machines, it would be advicable to use the "without Hyper-V" edition.
As far as I know on my Hyper-V training the kernel architecture with hypervisor and such is a bit different. The hypervisor kernel is even installed even when you don't install the role.
But I'm not sure about that.
